Panthera Set
Quality, the joy of hidden detail, and the duality of the wild in the throws of conformity.
Inspiration
Plagued with indecision in my own wardrobe, for this project I was inspired to create a matching set. Something that could look and feel effortless while remaining elegant at the same time
Camouflaged details, hidden in plain sight, yet completely invisible to someone who isn’t looking. Something rugged and durable with a bit of fun stitched in, this is what I wanted this set to embody.
Fabric story
Given my desire to make two garments that were stylish and versatile, and yet also durable and livable, denim was the obvious choice for the main fabric. In specific I went with a roughly 10oz indigo colored denim, something that will stand the test of time both in a physical sense and a stylistic sense.
As for the detail and lining fabric I selected a printed plain weave cotton fabric. This fabric has a distinct leopard print on it making it perfect for all the small details and linings fitting right in with my original concept and inspiration.
Choice in silhouette
When it comes to silhouette, the choice was relatively simple, with a work-wear inspire aesthetic already in mind, a typical work jacket would be a clear choice for the top. As for the jeans, I opted for something a little more visually interesting. In creating the jeans I wanted to find an intersection between rugged and alternative, and in this intersection a somewhat slim fitting flare cut came to mind immediately.
